A New Type of Post
As Northeastern students have settled into their on-campus housing this semester, many have faced challenges in adapting
to new COVID-19 regulations. For many students, the issue of communication is at the top of the list, as guests are not permitted in dorms and large-group gatherings are forbidden as well. In response, some students have taken to their campus housing windows to display an array of messages, using Post-It notes to communicate to whoever may be walking by: other students, school administrators, or those just passing by. Some neighboring dorms even respond to each other’s messages. From politically-charged notes to those just looking to share a little positivity, this is a unique way for students to feel heard, or “post,” in a time where it is easy to feel isolated.

A student living in Davenport A posts “Have a Great Day” to greet the many walkers on Columbus Avenue.

A message posted in West Village F asks Northeastern to change its current guest policy, with reinforcements from three neighbors.

A resident of West Village C has a lot to say, wishing the students lounging on the West Village Quad a Happy Halloween, encouraging them to vote in the upcoming election, and posting the statement “ACAB,” which means “All Cops are Bast****.”

A West Village B resident posts their sentiments towards the Black Lives Matter movement, with an impressive illustration of the movements symbol created with Post-Its. Another asks its peers about Northeastern’s infamous Co-Op program.
